Last weekend, a group of us from church were privileged to spend some time snowshoeing at the base of Mt. Hood (in Oregon). The weather was gorgeous and everyone had a great time! The area we hiked was called White River Canyon; today’s photo gives you a glimpse of White River and the surrounding scenery.
It’s wonderful to know that, no matter where we go, God still watches over us. Try as we might, we can’t escape His guiding hand! It puzzles me sometimes why anyone would even want to? Still, that’s the nature of the human heart — to rebel against authority, even the One who came to earth to live and die on our behalf. Think about that for a little while and you will wonder how you could ever turn your back on Him…
Merry Christmas everyone!
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
(Psalm 139:7-10 ESV)

Wow! That’s amazing. The black and white aspect gives it an icy feel. Beautiful detail…
SNOW! Down here, that’s unheard of!
beautiful black and white-it’s a great shot…i can’t get over how much snow that is! :) Beautiful landscape..
This looks a lot like Ansel Adams’ work! The Scripture passage pertains well to the picture. : )
Benjamin, I really appreciate your photography – especially your subject matter and composition, not that the other elements are not just as good. This image is stunning and your commentary most thoughtful, as always.
Up until now I’ve been a quiet admirer — no more!
can I come next time?! I don’t know where Emily Adams is from but we don’t ever get snow here in Florida either. I’ve never even seen snow!

Very nice! Did you use a Natural Density filter for this?
Sort of, but not a “real” one. I used Lightroom’s ND filter effect during post-processing.
