The next generation of firefighters nears the end of their foundational Fire Essentials course. At this point we have completed 148 hours of classroom and hands on training and are finished with the actual instruction. A written exam and a full day of simulated scenarios, designed to bring together everything we have learned over the last month and a half, are all that is left before we are officially graduated.
On the left are our two main instructors, both of which have many years of experience, with the older man at almost 40 years of firefighting experience. And yes, I am the only student who isn’t wearing a black New Yorker style helmet.
This is just the beginning of training and learning for many of us so here’s to many more hours of training. :)

Wow! Congratulations!!!! I have always been somewhat fascinated by fire engines and whatnot. :) So I love the picture! Plus, the water, and the reflections just make it so incredible.
Thanks, Jean Marie! Haha, same here, believe it or not. :) I mean, what is there not to like on a fire engine, particularly when it comes to photography? Bright, primary colors, bold, interesting angles, the fire crew with reflective, distinctive turnout gear, hose lines and ladders, and, of course, lots of highly reflective water.
