Liliya

Greetings,

Last Saturday I shot my first commercial wedding as the second shooter to a friend of mine who is starting a wedding photography business. Now any wedding is a fascinating, stressful, exhilarating, and exhausting event for a photographer, however, this wedding was particularly so due to almost every word spoken being in Russian, including the entire ceremony. Believe me, even with a knowledge of what is happening around you it is still challenging to capture all of the special moments at a wedding so imagine what it is like when you have no audible cues, you know, little things like the minister saying, “you may now kiss the bride”. We did get to spend almost two hours prior to the wedding in a beautiful park shooting the bridal party which was a lot of fun though, again, most of the time they were speaking Russian to each other. All in all it was one of the most creatively draining and exhausting shoots I have ever done but I am glad to have had the opportunity to learn and the experience gained will be of great value in the future.

Enjoy!
~Josiah

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
(Isa 61:10)

I found its extremely difficult to film a wedding… with only a hour preparation before hand!

Very nice, Josiah! I enjoyed seeing your pictures from the event! And judging from all that I’ve seen and heard, it was a day that will go down in history. :-)

Thanks everyone! The eyes are the life of a portrait so capturing them properly is of critical importance but there is one thing that can be done to greatly enhance the eyes, can anyone tell me what it is?

Wow, that sounds like a challenge of epic proportions, Skylar! Do you shoot many weddings?

LOL, Hannah, that is putting it mildly. :)
