The Moon In Its Glory

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.
(Psa 148:3-5)

This is a great photo! I have found that it can be hard to get a good shot of the moon. Although, I am sure what kind of camera is used can make a big difference.

Wow, Josiah! This is spectacular! I actually was looking upon the moon the same night, wishing I had a camera good enough to capture its brightness. I am really, really enjoying this Six Angles thing! It’s one thing I really anticipate opening in my plethora of emails! Blessings!

Incredible! Did you use a tripod? I’ve found that at least with my camera (Nikon D3000)it is absolutely impossible to get any nighttime pictures without a tripod.

      Hey Skylar,

Thanks! I used my 70-200mm f2.8 L at 200mm and then cropped the image down to about a 1/4 of the original size giving me 4x digital zoom so to speak. The combo of the 7D’s 1.6x crop factor and the 21MP images is what makes this image possible.

You actually can, just click on the “Vew EXIF Data” link to the side of the post.

Thank you all! There are few things more awe inspiring then going out in a field on a clear cold night, when the moon is at it’s fullest, and simply drinking in the beauty and majesty of God’s creation.

I really appreciate your kind words, Mrs. Polczynski, it is so encouraging to know that we have at least one dedicated fan who enjoys our work. :)

Come now, Corinne, are you implying that I couldn’t have taken an amazing picture of the game board? Oh ye of little faith! :)

Amy, I didn’t, actually, when the moon is full it is bright enough to allow for a high shutter speed and low ISO so hand holding works quite well.
