I suppose I could best be described as being a grateful sinner, saved by grace. I am the daughter of two wonderful parents and sister to a valiant brother {who also happens to be my best friend}! My prayer is that each photo I post would bring glory to my marvelous Savior, Jesus Christ, for I am nothing apart from Him.
The Atlantic shoreline is one of my favorite places to be. Having lived on the east coast of Florida all my life, I suppose that’s only natural. The sound of the crashing waves, the swish of the foamy water between my toes, and the scent of the salty air make me feel quite at home. The Lord’s creation is magnificent to behold!
For some reason, the little things in life have always captivated me the most. When I’m not working alongside my family in our entrepreneurial endeavors, I enjoy taking walks with my little spaniel, sipping tea, being a bookworm, cloud watching, organic food, experimenting in the kitchen, and {of course} capturing the world around me with my camera.
Photography is a relatively recent interest of mine, but it is something that I’ve quickly fallen in love with. I especially relish capturing the emotion and expression I find on the faces of those I meet! My Nikon D90 is my constant companion, and helps me keep my blog colorful. If you’d like, you can visit me at A Corner Pillar for more of a peek into my life.
Coram Deo,
Lauren
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

yay! I love it, Lauren! what a beautiful picture!
I’d love to see the Atlantic (well, with my feet on the ground, that is!) sometime…but till then, I’m happy to stick with the Adriatic Sea and its beauty.
Yay Lauren! ^-^ I can’t wait to keep following ya’ll….this is such a cool idea. Gah.
Simply enchanting, Lauren. I love everything about this picture. :)
What a lovely photo Lauren! May the Lord bless you as you begin this journey…:)

How lovely! I am new to photography myself. What is the best way to learn? Are there any good books or websites?

Greetings Bethany,
Welcome to the world of photography! I am sure you will find that learning the art and science of photography will be very rewarding for yourself as well as providing a great way to bless other people. The first step that I recommend to any new photographer is to purchase this book and go through it:
The Digital Photography Book
It is hands down the best introduction to photography that I have yet come across, and, if you like his style, he has two other books that build on the first volume as well as a plethora of books on more specific topics, such as editing in Photoshop, portraiture, etc.
Have fun with it!
~Josiah
Thanks for the help! I borrowed that book from the library (along with the other two volumes) and they look really good.
Oh, your self portrait is lovely, dear friend! I look forward to the many photographs to come in the future! May the Lord bless you and your sweet family, Lauren!
Your Sister In Christ,
Jenna
Oh my…. That is such a lovely picture. First thought that comes to mind is it’s mermaid-esque! You are gorgeous! Very creative shot!
*sigh* I suddenly feel the urge to walk on the beach…
Can’t wait to see your future shots! This is a really neat idea y’all have!
It’s lovely, Lauren! But sitting here in the frozen north, it is hard not to be at least a little bit jealous of you at the beach…. :-)
I look forward to seeing more of your work on this blog!
What a lovely self-portrait!
I am really excited about Six Angles, and look forward to “meeting” everyone else! I took a look at your blog and I saw that your family owns a homeschool business – mine does, too! And I am saving my money for a Nikon D90. I thought that was kind of neat.
Anyway, I love the whole idea of this blog and am really excited to be keeping up with it. :)
This has nothing to do with this picture (which is lovely) but, how do you deal with modesty at the beach? Not just personally but with the other people spending time at the beach.
That’s a great question Sarah! It certainly isn’t easy to do. The beach that’s about 10 minutes from our house is really beautiful, and it usually doesn’t have many people on it. We’ll usually just drive a few blocks north or south of the pier {where most people tend to congregate} and practically have it to ourselves! If there are people around, we usually don’t see them since we love being out in the water! ;) I usually wear a layer of clothing over my swimsuit, even in the water. It’s not as difficult to swim in as one might imagine!
Love this shot in the water…freezing water at that! :)
very brave my dear…I would do the same thing for such a good shot! lol
Blessings,
Miss Antoinette
I’m SOOOO over the moon excited about all of this!! and I looked at your picture, and simultaneously went “Ooooh, GORGEOUS!” and also went “oh no. was that recently? that water is FREEZING!” hahah. :) Can’t wait for more Lauren pictures!!
With much love,
~ Jean Marie
Great shot, Lauren! The combination of a beautiful setting, classic pose, and tasteful color grade work hand in hand to create a beautiful, classic portrait that is all you.
Hm. Nothing new. Just as gorgeous as ever.

[...] Lauren and I went to the beach yesterday and enjoyed some photo time with the wind from Irene. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. “O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires.
